Digital consultancy & bespoke software
We turn awkward business problems into software that works.
Vex Media is a digital consultancy and software development company. We help SMEs, manufacturers, education providers and public-sector teams understand what's actually going wrong, then design, prototype and build the systems that fix it.
Vex Media at a glance
Discovery & technical consultancy
Discovery, process analysis and technical scoping that turns a vague problem into a buildable brief.
Bespoke software development
Web apps, mobile-first tools, automation and integrations, built to fit how your team actually works.
What we do
Two disciplines. One outcome: software that fixes the actual problem.
Discovery & technical consultancy
Before anything gets built, we work out what's actually happening on the ground: the workarounds, the spreadsheet holding a process together, the steps nobody wrote down. That discovery work is what turns a vague brief into something buildable.
- Requirements discovery & problem framing
- Business process & workflow analysis
- Technical scoping & feasibility
- Rapid prototyping
- MVP definition & build
- Spotting where automation actually pays off
Bespoke software development
Once we know what needs to change, we build it: web applications, mobile-first tools, and the internal systems that hold operations together. Built to fit how your team works, not the other way round.
- Web applications & internal tools
- Mobile-first apps & PWAs
- Workflow & operations automation
- Dashboards & reporting
- APIs & third-party integrations
- Modernising legacy systems
- CMS builds & content platforms
- Self-serve tools clients can maintain
Products & platforms
We don't just advise. We build and run our own products too.
Alongside client work, Vex Media designs, builds and operates its own software. It's the same discipline as client projects, with the added test of running a live product for real users.
ClassCraft AI
An AI assistant that helps Further Education lecturers build lesson content, quizzes and course materials, cutting hours of preparation without cutting corners on quality.
- Conceived, designed and built in-house
- Deployed and in daily use in Scottish FE colleges
- Ongoing hosting, support and feature development
- Roadmap shaped directly by user feedback
Profanitee
A dynamic QR platform: one code, content you can change whenever you like. Started as an experiment in wearable tech and digital identity, built partly because we wanted to find out whether a T-shirt could have a CMS.
- Dynamic QR content management
- Personal dashboard for instant updates
- Concept-to-build in-house, no template

Rethinking how the shop floor talks to the office
We're working with a manufacturing business in Toronto, Canada to explore a bespoke operations platform, designed around how staff actually work rather than how off-the-shelf software assumes they work.
Today, production, stock and order information is recorded by hand by individual staff in a spreadsheet, entered inconsistently from person to person. That means human error, time-intensive processing, and mistakes in invoicing and shipping.
Two ideas stood out early in discovery: letting staff log activity on the phones they already carry instead of a spreadsheet, and having completed work flow straight into invoicing without anyone re-typing it. The concept is to capture an operational event, a stock movement, a completed job, a shipped order, once, at the point it happens, and let it flow through the rest of the business automatically.
How we work
A practical way of getting from problem to product
Discover
Understand the real problem: talk to the people who live with it.
Scope
Turn that into a concrete, buildable brief with realistic boundaries.
Prototype
Test the idea quickly, before committing to a full build.
Build
Develop the working system, iterating with you as it takes shape.
Integrate
Connect it to the systems, data and workflows it needs to fit into.
Improve
Support, monitor and extend it once it's live. Software is never really "finished".
Why Vex Media
A small, technical team. Not a rotating account list.
Direct access
You work with the people actually building your system, not a rotating account team.
Problem-first
We start with what's actually going wrong, not a technology we'd like to sell you.
Built to operate
We design things to be run and maintained, not just demoed and handed over.
Cross-sector, international experience, usually delivered remotely, wherever the team is.
